Strong Password Generator
Set a length, pick the character types, and copy a random password made in your browser and sent nowhere.
A password you can easily remember is often one someone else can guess, and a password reused on five sites is only as safe as the weakest of them. This strong password generator takes the guesswork out. Choose a length from 6 to 32 characters, decide which kinds of characters may appear, and it builds a random password right in your browser. Every change to a setting produces a fresh one, so settle the options first and copy last. A strength bar gives a quick read, and nothing you generate is sent anywhere or stored.
Quick Answer
To generate a strong password online, drag the slider to 16 characters or more, leave Uppercase, Lowercase, Numbers and Symbols switched on, and press the copy button. A new password appears whenever you move the slider, tick a box or press the refresh arrow.
How to Create a Strong Password
Set the Length
Drag the slider between 6 and 32. It starts at 12. Going to 16 or beyond, with all four character types on, is what turns the strength bar to Strong.
Choose What Goes In
Keep the four types on for the broadest mix. Add “Exclude similar characters” if you’ll be reading or typing the password by hand, and switch Symbols off if the site you’re signing up to rejects them.
Copy It
Press the red copy button, or click the password to select all of it. Not happy with it? The refresh arrow makes another. Copy the one you want before changing any setting, because the tool keeps no history.
Key Features
Length from 6 to 32
One slider, with the number shown beside it.
Four Character Types
Uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols. Each type you leave on is guaranteed to appear at least once, so a “mixed” password can’t turn out to be missing its numbers.
Look-Alike Filter
Drops 0, O, 1, l and I, the characters that are easy to mix up when you copy a password by eye.
No-Repeat Mode
Stops any character appearing twice. If your settings don’t offer enough different characters for the length you asked for, the tool shortens the password and says so.
Strength Bar
Rates the password Weak, Fair, Good or Strong from its length and the variety of characters it uses.
Browser-Grade Randomness
Uses the random number generator built into your browser for security work, not the ordinary random function.
Copy in One Click
A tick and a short “Password copied” message confirm it worked.
Private by Design
The password is made on your device. The tool doesn’t send it anywhere or save it.
What Makes a Password Strong?
Two things: length and unpredictability. People are poor at being random. We reach for names, dates and swaps like “P@ssw0rd”, and those are exactly the patterns a dictionary attack tries first. A random password has no pattern to find, so an attacker is left with brute force, trying combinations one after another. Every extra character multiplies the number of combinations, which is why length matters so much. A password generator supplies the randomness, but it only helps if each account gets its own password. After a data breach, attackers try leaked passwords on other sites, so a reused one undoes the work. What a generator can’t do is remember the result for you. Keep your passwords in a password manager, and turn on two-factor authentication wherever it’s offered.
When Would You Use This?
A sign-up form asks for “something strong” and you’d rather not invent it yourself.
You’re replacing a password you’ve been using on several sites, or one that turned up in a breach notice.
You’re setting a Wi-Fi password for home or an office. Most routers accept 8 to 63 characters, so any length on the slider fits. If the router’s page rejects a symbol, switch Symbols off and add length instead.
You’re updating an email or banking login. Sites differ on maximum length and allowed symbols, so match the slider and the Symbols box to what the form accepts.
You’ll have to type it by hand on a TV, a console or a shared computer. Turn on Exclude similar characters so 0 and O, or 1, l and I, can’t be confused.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long should a strong password be?
Longer is better, and the slider goes up to 32. At the default of 12 characters with all four types on, the strength bar shows Good. It reaches Strong at 16 characters or more with all four types on. The bar is a quick guide built from length and character variety, not a security audit. For your email, your bank, or your password manager, go longer than the minimum.
Can I make a strong password without special characters?
Yes. Switch Symbols off and lengthen the password to make up for it. The strength bar won’t go past Good in that case, because it only shows Strong when all four types are on. A long password without symbols can still be harder to guess than a short one with them, so don’t let the label mislead you.
Is the password really random, and does it leave my browser?
It’s built with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, the one meant for security work. The tool sends nothing over the network and saves nothing, which is why it also forgets a password the moment you change a setting. Copy it first.
What do “Exclude similar characters” and “No duplicate characters” do?
The first removes 0, O, 1, l and I. The second stops any character from appearing twice. Treat it as a convenience for passwords you read or type by hand, not as extra security: ruling out repeats slightly narrows the number of possible passwords.
Can it make a password I can remember?
No. It produces random strings, and nobody can memorize one for every account. Store them in a password manager instead. For the one password you do have to memorize, such as the manager’s own, the usual advice is a long phrase of unrelated words, which this tool doesn’t generate.
Can I paste in my own password to check how strong it is?
No. The strength bar only rates the password the tool has just generated, and there’s no box for entering your own.
